Robot Learning Components for Microsoft Robotics Studio Skilligent Robot Learning and Behavior Control System is a complete control system for autonomous service robots, including a behavior control and coordination system, task and skill learning functions, a powerful computer vision system, a social human-to-machine interface, a database for storing knowledge and other integrated components. The control system enables solution providers to create autonomous robots which can learn procedures and skills directly from human users. The product is a set of software components specifically designed for straightforward integration into control loops of PC-controlled robots. The software is based on recent advances in understanding of embodied cognition, grounded perception, robot learning, behavior coordination and human-to-machine interaction. Microsoft recently introduced Microsoft Robotics Studio (MSRS), a platform and a development environment for rapid creation of robotics applications. Robotics Studio supports a growing number of robotics hardware platforms and provides a unified distributed computation environment for building robotics solutions. Skilligent is integrating the product with MSRS in order to provide the academia with a platform for research in the frontier areas of artificial intelligence such as robot learning, social human-to-machine interaction, speech emergence, visual servoing and others.
The diagram shows that MSRS runtime environment acts as a platform for executing the higher-level robot behavior control and robot learning from demonstration logic. Skilligent Robot Learning and Behavior Control System interacts with humans and other robots, learns new skills, performs various cogntiive processing tasks and uses the underlying MSRS platform to execute commands and perform distributed logic orchestration. MSRS simplifies integration of the Skilligent product with a growing number of robotics platforms, real and simulated. | |
